For Southeast Texas real estate agent Naomi Loper, hunting isn’t just a tradition – it’s a transformation. Raised with rod and rifle thanks to her “Paw Paw,” Naomi grew up learning the ins and outs of the wild. Today, she’s not just passing those same skills down to her two boys – she’s taking on wild adventures of her own, carving out a space for women hunters and finding empowerment in unexpected places.

Venku first met Naomi when she booked an iguana hunt in South Florida with Captain Michael through Venku.com. While Naomi was no stranger to the outdoors, this experience was different – it was, as she put it, life-changing.
“If you would have told the woman I was 5 years ago that I would be flying to Florida by MYSELF to hunt iguanas with some women I met off social media, I would laugh and probably cry in your face. I was terrified of even going to the grocery store by myself… I always thought I was going to die or something bad was going to happen. I was straight up scared of EVERYTHING.”
Naomi’s openness about her struggles is part of what makes her story so powerful. After undergoing gastric sleeve surgery, she began to reclaim her confidence. That journey led her to take bold steps she never imagined – like boarding a plane solo to hunt invasive iguanas with a group of women she’d only known online.
“To Naomi from 5 years ago, we made it,” she reflects. “Maybe not to some people’s standards or expectations, but to us, we did.”

Naomi’s love for the outdoors was shaped early. “My Paw Paw was an avid hunter and fisherman, so I grew up hunting with him,” she says. That early exposure turned into a lifelong pursuit – not just for herself, but for her kids. “Now I have two boys, so I’m passing those traditions on to them too.”

Though she started as a big-game hunter, Naomi has developed a deep love for duck hunting in recent years. “As an adult I became intrigued with duck hunting and it’s quickly become my favorite,” she says. The blend of stillness, calling, and camaraderie in the blind has struck a chord with her.

And like any seasoned hunter, Naomi knows that solid gear can make or break a hunt. Her go-to? Sitka “I’ve hunted some pretty rugged terrain, and that seems to be the best gear that can take a beating and hold up – plus it keeps me warm and dry,” she says.

When it comes to firearms, Naomi’s loyal to her Franchi Affinity 3. “I’ve used it for years and love it! As a woman, it can be kind of hard-to-find guns that work well with our physique, but this one fits perfectly.”
Naomi is passionate about helping more women break into the world of hunting – especially those who may be feeling intimidated by it.
“Don’t be scared,” she says. “I know it can be intimidating, especially in a mostly male industry. Even if it’s hard, even if you fail – you will never know unless you try. We’re all beginners at one point, whether you’re 18 or 81.”
That spirit of encouragement is exactly why we’re proud to highlight Naomi’s story. At Venku.com and GunBroker.com, we’re committed to making the outdoors more accessible – for everyone. Whether it’s your first time in a duck blind or your fiftieth big-game tag, there’s always room for more stories like Naomi’s – of bravery, growth, and connection through the outdoors.

Naomi didn’t just book a hunt – she stepped into a new version of herself. And the best part? She’s just getting started.
